The Beauties of This Day
See the bird fly o’er the mountain
See the redwoods stretch and grow
Smell the greenery evolving
Serenity of sweetness know
Hear the calling of the creatures
With whom we all share this Earth
Gaze into their eyes and know
We are of very equal worth
Watch quiescent leaves a-nodding
In the sunlight of this day
And, when evening shadows come,
Watch their blossoms fold away
Smell a breeze as sweet as sap
Hear the silence happens when
Nature’s spaces dwell within,
O my happy soul, and then
Begin to bring self inwardly
From such beauty some apart
That coming separation will not
Break thy tender heart
