*****
the sisters come together
back in days we
hearken from
in tale and song
when life go wrong
the sisters come
together
accident
injury
childbirth
weather
birds of many a
different feather
you could find
sighted, blind
old and young
thereamong
suddenly
they appear
come from far
come from near
they are here
quietly
hardly notice
make the poultice
brew the tea
healing be
get no thinner —
made your dinner
help with weaving
for the grieving
mending, stitcin’
clean the kitchen
carpet beat
wash the sheet
feed the child
manner mild
in that day
from here we see,
who chronically
lonely
be,
it’s fair to say
they may
have had themselves
a better way
