(Well! We’re up! Of course we are! In the land of the Equality of Man, nobody cares if a homeless poet ever gets to sleep again.
Let’s see… What shall we write about, then?…)

Land of Sinners
In America we love
To drive our poets quite insane
So we can as shallow
As we’ve always been remain
We create an atmosphere
Of chaos and confusion
While egalitarianism
Put out front as an illusion
Poets aren’t the only people
We like to call lazy
Valueless, unpleasant
Dangerous and crazy
Anyone who won’t work
Sixteen hours and not complain
Or request just compensation
Will have to remain
Despised, scorned and belittled
For we value one thing only:
Do you have, or do you not have
Lots of extra money?
If not, your contributions
May have been profound
But nobody will know of them
Buried as beneath the ground
You weren’t a good “go getter”
You weren’t entrepreneur
You strove to keep your morals
Innocent and pure
So we will bite your back, yes,
We will call in false complaints ~
In this Land of Sinners,
The last thing that we want is saints

This poet is physically disabled. Public housing being insufficient to her medical and creative needs, she is presently living, in order to continue working, in her minivan, publishing all of her works using one thumb on the touch screen of her smartphone, surviving at an income of a fraction of her nation’s poverty level. She would treasure any donation you might care to offer ~ http://www.UgiftABLE.com ● #72D-31S.
