(Pueblo Police have been directly notified of both the poet’s and the predator’s presence in this relatively remote lot this week.

Transceivers are squeaking, stones landing on the van, pavement being scraped nearby, crunchy stereo is playing in the offing, and vehicle doors opening and closing around the lot. It is 10:30 PM.

American Law Enforcement Has Ignored This Predator, Coast to Coast, for Over Two Years

You will not save your ripped up parks
Will not save your roads
Will not save your highway signs ~
This no order bodes

Will not lift a finger
Will not bat an eye
When of criminal’s existence
To tell you I try

Don’t care ’bout his vandalism
Of the private houses
Don’t care ’bout his educating
Dozens of new louses

Don’t care ’bout dead animals
He leaves by the dozens
Don’t care ’bout good families
He presently cozens

But whom you’ll soon be telling
They themselves must crazy be
“Wait ~ are you really telling us,
‘Those birds are laughing right at me’?”

Don’t care ’bout his litter
Or his shopping carts ~
It’s really not surprising
He doesn’t think much of your smarts!

After so much time has passed
One conclusion must be made:
Someone all along this line
Must be threatened ~ or be paid

And if you will not act to save
Our wider society
I guess there isn’t any hope
That you’ll act to save me
