(The poet begins her new career as someone actually deserving of the treatment she’s been receiving.
What was all that constructive,’ ‘helpful’ bullshit she was trying to be, anyway? Ridiculous. Y’all we’re absolutely right.
Hate away, Pueblo ~ enjoy!)

This is America ~ Pay Me
This is America ~ Pay Me
We worship Money Gods here
We don’t have time
For beautiful rhyme
We prefer hatred and fear
We like them so much, as a matter of fact,
That our entertainment they’ve been
An eighteen year old fool
Graduating from school
Twenty thousand murders has seen
Don’t struggle for your independence
They look down upon you for that
They want to spend more
Than they did before
Then for it take you to the mat
Putting you in “public housing”
Where treated you are like a child
Or some criminal
Full of malice full
Or an animal, feral and wild
For which, just in case you were considering
Signing away all your rights
To ordinary adult pleasures
All harmless and legal delights
Let’s not even talk about justice
Because any system that will
Resort to our misleading records
To railroad TWO MILLION poor bastards
Into our unpaid slave mill
Itself in corporate business
“Partnership” government to
Will laugh at the fall you’re next taking:
It’s waiting… It’s waiting… For YOU!

This poet is physically disabled. Public housing being insufficient to her medical and creative needs, she is presently living, in order to continue working, in her minivan, publishing all of her works using one thumb on the touch screen of her smartphone, surviving at an income of a fraction of her nation’s poverty level. She would treasure any donation you might care to offer ~ http://www.UgiftABLE.com ● #72D-31S.
