Together
They flew one hundred yards apart
Two birds of single feather,
Two hawks of but one noble heart,
Although apart, together
By habit and by preference
Companionably flew
In awe, respect and deference
To the beauty that they knew
He loved to watch the setting sun
Gilding gold her wings
This wondrous mate that he had won ~
His posture told her many things
The turning of his regal head
As she graceful glided
Spoke deep regard of she he’d wed
Nuanced, many-sided
On air-sprung floor, high overhead
They did their lovely dance ~
Each turn of every feather said
How glad they were of their romance
Few wedded partners hereamong
Hath this poet often seen
Throughout a lifetime passing long
Such serenity between
