A Modern Conversation
I don’t say what makes me glad
You don’t say what makes you sad
Neither of us speaks out loud
Anything which makes us proud
Bring our minds and hearts together?
Rather talk about the weather!
Heaven forefend we begin
To share something genuine
Neither one will suffer spasm
Of vulgar enthusiasm ~
Better credited we be
With excessive humility
Better we agree to wallow
In th’inconsequential shallow
Preparing from the very start
Defensively to part

This poet is physically disabled. Public housing being insufficient to her medical and creative needs, she is presently living, in order to continue working, in her minivan, publishing all of her works using one thumb on the touch screen of her smartphone, surviving at an income of a fraction of her nation’s poverty level. She would treasure any donation you might care to offer ~ http://www.UgiftABLE.com ● #72D-31S.
