How Tired am I?

How abysmally tired am I
From seeking to do naught but well?
How tired is any little chick
After pecking through its shell?

How exhausted is the runner
In sight of the finish line?
How many vigils before an
Aspirant glimpses the Divine?

How aching are the muscles
Of the wild dog mother, picking up
Protectively, carefully moving
At blessed last, that final pup?

How many drops of sweat the workers
Wipe away in every field
In coming days the dinner
Of their families will yield?

How fatigued the caterpillar
On that long awaited day
It bursts forth free from its cocoon
And finds that it can fly away?
