I’m Sorry I Came
I’m sorry I came
To this Third Dimension ~
I thought I could help
With some of this tension
Thought I could offer,
If not an upliftment,
A song or a story
Before back I went
I’m sorry I looked and
Sorry I listened
To those teachings in school ~
Remember? They glistened
With rights, each one with its
Responsibility?
Sorry I thought
That those teachings truths be
Innocent till proven guilty?
All created equal?
Know the name of our accuser? ~
What’s there for a sequel?
Streets all paved with gold and
Fountains running with good wine?
Now I’m getting old, and
I think that is just, just fine
Why would I want to stay where
Gifts in hardship, from the heart
Made, in sterling quality
Don’t even get a start
But some cheap plastic trinket
Which everyone despise
Is also found perpet’ually
In front of everybody’s eyes
Go back to your sitcoms
Your consumer goods
Back to never laughing
To never really feeling good
I wish that I had had the sense
Before I came to know it
You have no idea
How to treat a poet
